The Small Wings on the Angel
The small wings on the angel
Carried us higher and higher
Time stopped for the two of us
There is the refuge in being with each other
Yet, I know the inescapability of reality,
Dictates every dream's end and every joy's death
We reached a meadow of supreme splendor
The white roses and white daisies mingled
They danced to the sweet tune of the wind
They embraced at times then they departed
My heart clenched as I witnessed their separation
Will I lose you again?
My heart misses those lips
The softness of your beating heart against mine
Your embrace
The taste of your presence
The smell of your hair on my cushions
My mind misses your words
My skin yearns for your touch
A love as pure as mine will coarsen
A heart as committed as mine will die
A thousand times at least
The battle I lose over and over
The pain I endure to be close to you
And I want it all, just to be near you
To be anywhere near, makes my life
Your affection lifts me higher
As high as our love
Losing you will toss me to perpetual anguish
Is there a chance for us?
Simply not
